Baby Jake
Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing Josh & Sandra and their beautiful baby boy Jake. Jake was a wonderful baby and very easy to photograph. We all had lots of fun with the photos. Jakes parents had the brilliant idea of using Jakes favorite mobile toy to keep his attention and, when needed, the soother worked like magic!

Natasha's Family
On Sunday I photographed Natasha's family. My cousin Cassy joined me as well because she is interested in photography and is considering having a future as a photographer. The photo session was a little challenging with two little girls who only wanted to play in the leaves and not have their photos taken...but I remained persistent. :) Hey if I have to follow them around and submit to having pine cone wars, then so be it. Natasha sent me a nice comment after the session, "I just wanted to thank you for all your hard work today! I know my family might have been a little difficult to work with and I know it must be hard to photograph the kids but you were so great."
Hey who can resist photographing two kids that are so cute!?

Kristi's Family
Today I got up early and went to Ellwood Park to photograph Kristi's lovely family. We were all quite pleased that it wasn't raining! I had a fun photo session with Kristi and her extended family. It was great having Kristi's family sing and make funny faces and load noises while I was trying to photograph the kids and keep their attention. All the kids were super cute and I think we got quite a few great family photos!

New Camera
Kelly Corbett Photography is excited to announce the newest member of her camera family...the Canon G10!
I haven't yet had the opportunity to have much one-on-one time with the new camera, but I went out kayaking this morning and I was able to take a few test shots. This camera will be used mainly as a travel/kayaking camera.

Website Design
A fun update on website design! Recently I have gotten into the wide world of web design. It began with a desire to create and update my own website, which is a never ending process... then one thing led to another...word got out... and before I knew it I was being encouraged to design websites for other people. I have taken one class on dreamweaver (using the program from a designers point of view) and I am in the process of taking a class on HTML (learning the code behind web design). Other sites that I have designed are "Beyond the Basket" & "Kardon Communications". Plus my current work in progress "White Cat Design"reflects the work of both my HTML class and my Illustrator class. But the main reason for this blog entry is to show you my most recent completed website project "Shine Jewellery". So feel free to check out the sites and if you are looking for a web designer give me a call and we can chat about your website ideas!

Jennifer & Scott
Today I took Jennifer & Scott's engagement photos! They have booked their wedding with me in March so we decided to get together for a casual pre-wedding session. It was a wonderful crisp fall morning at Robert Bateman Park. This is the third time I have photographed at this location. I did an engagement photo session with some other clients last year at this location and while we were out taking the photos my clients lost their car keys. A few months later we came back to the park to photograph the wedding formals in the same area...we thought wouldn't it be funny if we found those lost cars keys...and we were in luck, we ended up finding them on the day of the wedding!
Jen & Scott were a fun easy going couple, I think we got some great photos and I am looking forward to photographing their wedding next year!

Rocko & Jessie
Today I photographed two very cute little boys, Rocko and Jessie. They did quite well for being so young and having short attention spans. But cleverly the boys mom tried bribing them with some chocolate bars which worked quite well. I must admit I was a bit surprised by how fast the littlest was able to move and get away from the eye of the camera. But after lots of assistance from the parents I think we were able to achieve the desired outcome.

Lindsay's Family 2008
Today I went out to Alison Pools along the Vedder River to take Lindsay's annual family photographs. We had tons of fun exploring and navigating our way over all the river rocks. We were even lucky enough to catch a glimpse of some very large spawning salmon. The photo session was very casual and even though it was fairly challenging getting Jessie's attention, I think we got some great shots.
I seem to be having some technical issues with uploading more photos, but you can check out all of the photos at www.kelcophoto.smugmug.com.

Christening at the Malahat Reserve Unit
Today I had the pleasure of Photographing a Christening at the Malahat Reserve Unit in Victoria BC. Thankfully it turned out that I just happened to be visiting friends and family on Vancouver Island the same weekend as the Christening. My friend (and fellow photographer) Josh McCulloch referred me as a potential photographer for the event.
It was very interesting photographing a Navy style christening, in the past I have only witnessed christening/baptisms that were part of a church service. My clients had reserved an nice large room where they invited their friends and family to witness the special event, and afterwards they served delicious refreshments. One very important part of the christening was that the water in the baptismal font was ocean water (contained in an old ships bell) once the ceremony was done we all walked down to the pier and the water was returned to the ocean. It was quite an interesting experience being part of such a unique traditional event.
