Jennifer & Scott

Today I took Jennifer & Scott's engagement photos! They have booked their wedding with me in March so we decided to get together for a casual pre-wedding session. It was a wonderful crisp fall morning at Robert Bateman Park. This is the third time I have photographed at this location. I did an engagement photo session with some other clients last year at this location and while we were out taking the photos my clients lost their car keys. A few months later we came back to the park to photograph the wedding formals in the same area...we thought wouldn't it be funny if we found those lost cars keys...and we were in luck, we ended up finding them on the day of the wedding!
Jen & Scott were a fun easy going couple, I think we got some great photos and I am looking forward to photographing their wedding next year!

Rocko & Jessie

Today I photographed two very cute little boys, Rocko and Jessie. They did quite well for being so young and having short attention spans. But cleverly the boys mom tried bribing them with some chocolate bars which worked quite well. I must admit I was a bit surprised by how fast the littlest was able to move and get away from the eye of the camera. But after lots of assistance from the parents I think we were able to achieve the desired outcome.

Lindsay's Family 2008

Today I went out to Alison Pools along the Vedder River to take Lindsay's annual family photographs. We had tons of fun exploring and navigating our way over all the river rocks. We were even lucky enough to catch a glimpse of some very large spawning salmon. The photo session was very casual and even though it was fairly challenging getting Jessie's attention, I think we got some great shots.
I seem to be having some technical issues with uploading more photos, but you can check out all of the photos at www.kelcophoto.smugmug.com.

Christening at the Malahat Reserve Unit

Today I had the pleasure of Photographing a Christening at the Malahat Reserve Unit in Victoria BC. Thankfully it turned out that I just happened to be visiting friends and family on Vancouver Island the same weekend as the Christening. My friend (and fellow photographer) Josh McCulloch referred me as a potential photographer for the event.
It was very interesting photographing a Navy style christening, in the past I have only witnessed christening/baptisms that were part of a church service. My clients had reserved an nice large room where they invited their friends and family to witness the special event, and afterwards they served delicious refreshments. One very important part of the christening was that the water in the baptismal font was ocean water (contained in an old ships bell) once the ceremony was done we all walked down to the pier and the water was returned to the ocean. It was quite an interesting experience being part of such a unique traditional event.
